Friday September 22nd

So this past week we got to finish creating and playing our sport board game. In my group we took inspiration from  a sports game that was played on a beach with flags. We turned it into a board game using uno cards and a color coordinated game board. The collaboration between the group was very creative and energetic together. In the chapters we read it talks about the four steps in creating a game. “The conceptualize, The Prototype, The Playtest, The Elevate.” We used these very well together and created the spoon disco game. It played out very well and it was very cool to see other people enjoy what we created. Then we got to learn about playing cards in Thursday's class. It was really interesting and something I never thought about. Like in the reading, “ The history of playing cards is hewn so closely to the history of mechanical reproduction from Chinese woodblock printing to German wood and copper engraving that uniformity is now a marker of industrialization and capitalist exchange.” I learned all the past cards that lead us to what we see today. Like seeing different countries playing cards and how they played with them. My favorite was Germany's playing cards with the cool art on the cards. The last thing we did in class was play a card game. It was called Sushi Go. It was a really fun example of playing cards and how they can be used in different ways. I love the game and it was cool to like to strategize each round on how to get more points. That card game is a fun quick learner and passes the time.
